Viv, our Principal is leaving us today! Here is his farewell blog post. We are so sad to say goodbye but wish him all the luck for his exciting future! THANK YOU, Viv for everything!
After two very happy years at Tti, I am moving on to work on a freelance basis. I’ll be doing a number of different things – in particular teaching philosophy to school kids, which I’m really excited about.
The last two years have been so rewarding – this was my first time in a Principal role after a number of years in Academic Management so there was lots for me to learn. I could not have chosen a better place to take on this challenge as the office team and teachers here were all so supportive and helpful, and the students so lovely.
I quickly settled into the position and despite the challenges that all of us here in the UK EFL industry have faced in recent years, I have enjoyed working with the rest of the team here to maintain and grow the school’s reputation as the best all-round, value for money option open to English language learners in London – 2016 saw an upturn in the school’s fortunes, and 2017 is looking good thus far so I’m happy to be leaving with the school in a positive place.
It’s such a colourful, happy environment to work in, full of creativity; from the music and art outside on the streets of Camden, to the artwork on the walls of the school (courtesy of Bridie and Guy, the Directors), from the range of different study and work options, to the great job done by the teachers in the classrooms – our recent British Council inspectors said they had never seen students enjoying themselves as much in the classroom as they did here at Tti!
As well as the great lessons, Tti has so much to offer, from the great range of walking-distance accommodation, to the daily social programme, the flexible timetable, the work experience options, Over 30s Courses, roof terrace, to just being slap bang in the middle of Camden Town – Tti offers everything an English language student is looking for, and it was a wonderful experience for me to be part of the team that has delivered that to so many happy students over the last two years (99% of our students in 2016 said they would recommend Tti to their friends and family) .
Leaving somewhere is often sad, but it is much easier when you know that you are leaving a place in safe hands – Sian Matos will be moving from her Sales & Marketing role into the Principal position when I leave; with Lucy Edmiston stepping up from Director of Studies into a newly-created Vice Principal role. Together they will be leading the wonderful team here at Tti and I look forward to hearing about their continued success.
So, off to the future I go, philosophy-teaching, bee-keeping, allotmenteering, and who know what else awaits?!
