Hello everyone! Ophelia here coming to you again with food recommendations.
Now, in the 12 years that I’ve lived in London, there is one thing I’ve learned: the British take their cakes very seriously! And as it happens….so do I, so here is my top four best cake spots in London.
Lola’s cupcakes ( various locations) @lolascupcakes
Lola’s bakeries have a simple motto: to handcraft the best cupcakes you have ever tasted and hold themselves to this standard every single day. I have to say, cupcakes in general can look very pretty but to me, most of them taste rather bland. Lola’s cupcakes are different: their strawberry cakes REALLY taste of strawberry, and the same goes for all of their flavours. If you can’t decide on your favourite, they have a selection of adorable mini cupcakes so you can try more than one at the time! And while you are at it…their milkshakes are to die for. Cupcakes, cakes, sugar free, vegan and wheat free options are all available, and they look beautiful!Find their nearest shop at
Oh la la! For something a bit more continental, Patisserie Valerie is a chain of french style cafés that operates in London. The chain specialises in hand-made cakes, and its menu includes continental breakfasts, lunches and teas and coffees. It is my GO TO place when I need a beautiful birthday cake, or when I am around Soho and I feel like indulging. They serve individual slices of their huge variety of French cakes, and you can choose 4 different slices for £10…so why not try as many as you can?Find their nearest shop at http://www.patisserie- valerie.co.uk/

Molly Bakes (Dalston) @mollybakes
I cannot even write about Molly Bakes without my mouth starting to water! Granted, their cakes are pretty amazing…but the real treat at Molly’s are their “FREAKSHAKES”. These outlandish Frankenshakes are made using fresh ice cream from Ice Cream Union and topped with sauces and brownies/cookies/tartlets/ marshmallow/honeycomb all made by the bakery. Available in four flavours Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Raspberry and Caramel with more on the way!Find them at
450 Kingsland Road E8 4AE and at https://www.mollybakes.co.

Cookies and Scream (Camden) @cookiesscream
After a long day of working hard on improving your English at Tti, you know you deserve a treat. So why not hop straight from the school to the nearby Cookies and Scream bakery? They do vegan and gluten-free cookies, cakes, brownies and thick shakes, in a market setting. Also Cookies and Scream stocks a delicious range of teas and coffees. Try their doughnuts! They are indulgent but go down so easily!
Find them locally in Camden at The Market Hall, Camden Lock Pl, London NW1 8AF
That’s it from me! Now go and try them yourself!
