I believe there is a huge misconception when it comes to eating out in London which is that it’s expensive & not very delicious. Well, I am going to set the record straight by giving you my top 5 places to eat on a budget right here in Camden Town! I am sure you already know about Camden Market which is actually my first pick but Camden’s cheap eats don’t end at the market! There are some really fantastic eateries with affordable menus even for those of us who are on a shoe string budget!
1. Camden Market - You can eat so well for under £10 at the market! They have something called the Global Kitchen where you can try so many different dishes from around the world! Some of our staff favourites are: Shrimpy located in the West Yard who sell ‘fish butties, either grilled or fried served in a brioche bun with lots of fresh cucumber salad’ all for around a fiver, Mr. Piadina for delicious Italian flat bread sandwiches and Arepa & Co. for the “Venezuelan Food Experience” and Pina Coladas! These are just a few but there are so many more to try out! You can explore more of what Camden Market has to offer by visiting their website - http://www.camdenlockmarket.com
2. Melissa Bakery – I know what you are thinking! I chose this bakery because it shares the same name as me! How narcissistic of you Melissa! Ha! Well actually this bakery has a range of delicious pizzas, pretzels, salads, wraps and more all for under £5! Tti students actually get 10% all day from 7am to 6pm when you show your student ID! Also, here’s little tip after 6pm everything that’s left their pizzas and pretzels are offered at half price so great for when you need a quick bite after work or school!
3. Taste of Siam -
On Camden High Street just a few minutes walk from our main centre there are some amazing lunch deals! One of our local Thai restaurants, Taste of Siam offers a lunch promotion where meals start at £4.95, weekdays 12pm-3pm. If you have never tried Thai food before here is your chance! Their dishes burst with flavours from curry dishes to their classic Pad Thai , it will definitely fill you up!
4. Bento - Parkway near Camden Town station is a street full of culinary delights! One place we enjoy is Bento named after the traditional Japanese box which holds rice, fish or meat with pickled or cooked vegetables. You can get a full meal for just £7.90 . http://www.bentocafe.co.uk
5. Phoenica Mediterranean Food Hall -http://www.phoeniciafoodhall.co.uk
In Kentish Town, you can’t go wrong at the Phoenicia Deli! They have fresh falafel, salads and all sorts of mediterranean treats all under £5! You can sit in their cozy cafe or take it away with you. Kentish Town is becoming some what of a ‘Foodie heaven’ with great local organic shops, cafes and restaurants. It’s just 1 stop after Camden Town and a few minutes walk from our new centre on Kentish Town High Road.
There are so many other wonderful restaurants, cafes and more to check out in Camden. These are just a few of them!
