Summer Festivals in London!

BannerFestival2What images pop into your head when you think of festivals? For me it’s sunshine, great music, bright colours, street food and lots of booze! One of the things I most look forward to in the summer season is the variety of music festivals that London plays host to. So without further ado let me walk you through the festivals of 2018.

All Points East

First up we have a new music festival called All Point East, which will take place in Victoria Park between May 25th-27th. This festival promises a shiny new celebration of alternative music in East London, welcoming brilliant acts such as Beck, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Phoenix, Lorde and Father, John Misty and more. All Points East is single-handedly making it an exciting time to be a music fan in East London.

FieldDayField Day

Next up is Field day, which will be hosted by Brockwell Park, 1st and 2nd of June, and has a reputation for offering alternative music in London. Field day has been a major London event for over a decade and 2018 is rumoured to be the biggest year yet.

Wireless Festival

Now it is time for my personal favourite, The Wireless Festival (or as I like to call it “The dawn of RnB, Pop and House”). The Wireless Festival takes place in London from July 6th to July 8th. The headline this year is Stormzy who will perform alongside J WirelessFestivalCole and Dj Khaled. I love this festival as it offers 3 days of the biggest acts in dance, rock and pop all in North London’s Finsbury Park. But what makes this festival standout from all others is the amount and variety of food available, everywhere you look there is a food stand; Chinese, Indian, Thai, Italian, burgers and yes even fish & jolly old chips. There are bars serving drinks all around and ice-cream, doughnut, waffle trucks going around the park- it truly is heaven on earth. Last year I stuffed my face with cheesy chips while watching The Weekend perform, followed by a large serving of ice-cream, waffles and pie whilst Skepta rocked the stage. Do. Not. Miss. It.

South West Four

SouthWestFourOver the August bank holiday weekend, Clapham Common will play host to one of London’s biggest dance music festivals, as South West Four celebrates its 15th anniversary. The acts have been announced, the stage will be filled with the likes of Stefflon Don, Dizzee Rascal, Bugzy Malone and Craig David. With a line up like this you know it’s going to be one hell of a party.

Notting Hill Carnival

Much like the above festival, the Notting Hill Carnival will take place during the August bank holiday weekend. Given that it isn’t exactly a festival (let’s face it this NottingHillCarnival2street party is in a league all of its own) it is, however, the only street party we have here in London- and oh boy is it a PAR-TAY. I strongly suggest going on the Sunday (then you can have the Monday to recover), the costumes are better, the vibe is greater, the atmosphere is buzzing-er and the streets are cleaner (believe me after the Monday party Notting Hill is unrecognisable).

So there you have it music and party lovers, festivals and street parties to end all festivals/street parties. BRING ON SUMMER 2018 IN LONDON!

Hidden Gems of London

So you have already visited Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Primark and you are looking for something different to do? Follow this advice from the Tti Team and you will definitely have an alternative day out in London!

Hackney City Farm Garden-Suggested by Ophelia

If you have never noticed this hidden beauty on a visit to Hackney City Farm HackneyCityFarmGardenyou’re missing it out. The garden is divided into various sections including an orchard area which is made up of apple, plum and pear trees and the bog garden, which is filled with wetland plants. There are also several farm animals.

Located within Hackney City Farm, along with the ‘Frizzante’ cafe and a farm shop which sells produce grown in the garden.

Open all year round from Tuesday – Sunday, 10 am – 4.30pm, closed Mondays except Bank Holidays.

The Bell-Suggested by Nadja

You have arrived in London but can’t decide where you should go to have some good English food? Well, here is a suggestion you won’t regret. “The Bell”, a pub in North London, combines tasty food and a real London experience. Their fish & chips are especially mouth-watering. The service is very friendly and they are always up for a laugh. Don’t miss out on having a beer while you enjoy the warm atmosphere. Be aware of the fact that this pub is always quite crowded after work, so try it in the afternoon after midday.

Columbia Road Flower Market and Broadway Market -Suggested by Marianne

ColumbiaRoadFlowerMarketTake a nice walk on beautiful Columbia Road Flower Market and then enjoy your breakfast in one of the many brunch & breakfast spots over there. Or visit Broadway Market in East London for things to eat, vintage shopping and artisan bread, cheese, olive oil and charcuterie.

Columbia Road flower market and shops are open on Sundays from 8 am ’til 3’ish and Broadway Market on Saturday from 9 am til 5 pm.

The Dev-Suggested by Michelle

Just two minutes from Camden Town Station you can find an amazing full metal pub, playing great music and selling the most affordable drinks I’ve found in London. And I am definitely not talking about the Underworld or the World’s End. The real metalheads meet up at the Devonshire Arms at Kentish Town Rd, drink cider or beer, listen to metal and sing Karaoke, or should I say growl?
