The long Easter weekend is almost upon us. What are you getting up to? Here are some “different” suggestions that we have put together just in case you haven’t made any plans yet!
Don’t just sit inside and eat chocolate for four days, get out and about this Easter and make the most of all the great things to do in London. The Easter weekend also marks the first bank holiday of 2017 – where we’re treated to not one, but two whole days off work (Friday April 14 –Monday April 17 2017). Of course, feel free to munch plenty of chocolate on, or before, or after, Easter Sunday (Sunday April 16), but take a look at our pick of the events taking place for some cultural inspiration too.

Dangle down the side of Anish Kapoor’s ArcelorMittal Orbit this Easter for a freefall abseil and see views over London for up to 20 miles. If you’d rather avoid the heights, try whizzing through the twists and turns of the world’s longest and tallest tunnel slide in just 40 seconds.

Easter Chocolate Workshop for £50
Make weird and wacky chocolate creations this Easter at My Chocolate’s special workshop for cocoa loves. After a quick (and tasty) chocolate history lesson, you can dip and decorate your quirky Easter creations using dark chocolate ganache, milk chocolate fudge and bowls of melted chocolate. Sounds like our kind of workshop.

Wintershall Players return with their huge (for which read horses, donkeys, doves and a cast of over 100) open-air re-enactment of ‘The Passion of Jesus’ on Good Friday, featuring volunteers from in and around London. Huge crowds are expected but big screens will ensure nobody misses any crucial plot twists.
April 14 2017, Trafalgar Square, WC2N 5DN, Tube: Charing Cross
Bored of street food events filled with hog roasts and katsu chicken burgers? Head down to Hackney Downs Vegan Market this Easter where every stall will be serving up inventive plant-based dishes. Chow down on Club Mexicana’s bbq pulled jackfruit taco, or indulge in a doughnut from the peanut butter bakery.
April 15 2017, Hackney Downs Studios, 13-17 Amhurst Terrace E8 2BT, Rail: Dalston Kingsland
