Sometimes learning at home just doesn’t work – it’s noisy, or cramped, or full of distractions, or maybe it’s perfect but you need a change of scenery. Luckily London is full of great study spaces to get on with your courses and finish some learning. Here are a few of our favourites.
The British Library always appears in great places to study lists! Four floors of reading rooms, multiple cafes, the imposing King’s Library (the glass-walled private collection that rises through the middle of the building) all make for a suitably studious atmosphere.
The Wellcome Collection Cafe and Reading Room is where culture meets science. The Wellcome Collection cafe is where cake meets conversation. As you study you’ll find yourself soothed by the hum of discussions and if you need inspiration you can dive into one of the exhibitions. This study space is not far from school! Just a 20 minute walk away and well worth checking out.
Foyles bookshop on Charing Cross Road is topped by a light and airy cafe that serves great coffee. The cosy benches mean you might even end up swapping life stories with a fellow cafe-goer. Plus you can spend your study break browsing the stacks in Foyles or the secondhand bookshops along Charing Cross Road.
Our nicest local library the Swiss Cottage Central Library which is just a short bus ride away from school. It is the central library of the public library service in the London Borough of Camden, and is housed in an architectural landmark building designed by Sir Basil Spence. If you’re a fan of symmetry, you’ll love the brutalist exterior. Internally, it’s a dramatic swirl of mirror-image staircases and 1960s curves. The collection is strong on the philosophy and history front, and there’s a big open space where you can get settle down and study comfortably.
And of course there is always our lovely Study Lounge at where you are always most welcome to study. We offer free wifi and free coffee to keep you going all day long!
