Top 5 HAMBURGERS in London!

    By Ligia Diaz

I have a confession to make: I love eating! I enjoy it so much and of course Hamburgers are always at the top of the list when it comes to choosing what to eat. Actually, I used to go to Mac Donald’s in every city that I visited to taste the different menus on offer in Buenos Aires, Panama, Madrid, Barcelona, Stockholm, Istanbul, Munich, Chicago etc.

Nowadays, there’s a new wave of modern burger joints that offer a fresh and new image of a tried-and-tested formula and provide the customer with more options than ever before. Now, every time I travel I make it a point of principal to seek out the local version of the classic burger. Here in London I am spoilt for choice, which is great! So, without further ado, here is my top 5…

1. Dirty Burger!  @dirtyburger

This is definitely my number 1 choice if I want to eat a delicious hamburger. It is small and simple but by far the best choice. What I like most about this hamburger is the delicious sauce that they slather it in. I could easily eat two if I didn’t want to leave room for one of their side dishes, which are as delicious as their hamburgers; you can choose either fries or onion rings. Small, delicious and super-quick!

You can find this restaurant in five different places around London: Vauxhall, Whitechapel, Kentish Town, Shoreditch, Exmouth market and Holloway Road. Have a look at their website http://www.eatdirtyburger.com  and don’t miss the opportunity to try it.

My recommendation: Cheese Burger, a classic!

2. Honest Burger! @honestburgers

Why try an Honest burger? Because all their burger are served with rosemary salted chips and I simply love it. They have different lots of different burger options but I almost always go for the ‘Honest Burger’, which comes with red onion relish, smoked bacon, mature cheddar, pickled cucumber and lettuce. On hot days, there is nothing more refreshing than their iced tea to accompany the burger.

Honest burger is more for those who want to sit and enjoy their hamburger. I would recommend booking your table in advance as this place makes such good hamburgers that you’ll almost certainly have to queue for a while – particularly in their Soho restaurant. You can find them all over London.

 3. Byron @byronhamburgers

This hugely popular chain states that their mission is to keep things simple and focus on serving up ‘proper’ hamburgers. Without doubt, they seem to be achieving their aim. The hamburgers here are great, very juicy and each served with a hamburger’s best friend on the side: a pickle. Another selling point of this chain is that they offer skinny burgers for those who want to maintain their figure. You must try: the Oreo milkshake – absolutely delicious but certainly not for the faint-hearted!

4. Patty and Bun @pattyandbunjoe

This charming little burger parlour is truly one of a kind. The emphasis here is on one thing and one thing only: the burger! The patty itself is a taste sensation, making Patty and Bun truly stand out from the crowd. We also tried the chicken wings as a side, which were good. But make no mistake, the star of the show here is the straight up burger. I tried the Ari Gold and it did not disappoint.

Highly recommended, they have several restaurants scattered across London. Take a closer look at their website for more details:

5. Five Guys @FiveGuysUK

Fun, loud and quintessentially American, this fast-growing chain is reminiscent of what I imagine Mac Donald’s might have been like when it first started up way-back-when. but it still has their oWhat’s great about Five Guys is a) that you get free monkey-nuts when you’re queuing and b) that you can choose as many or as few toppings as you want (and there are A LOT of options). So it doesn’t matter if you’re a squirt-of-ketchup-only purist or a modern day baroque patty sociopath, Five Guys caters for both ends of the spectrum and everything in between. A word of warning: their standard burger comes with two beef patties.
