Happy British Pie Week from an American and a Canadian! :)

In honour of British Pie week , we called on the two non-Brits to write about their favourite pies. Julia from Canada and Mel from the States! It just so happens that Julia is an amazing food blogger and has shared with us two of her favourite pie posts from her blogĀ – http://vikalinka.com. Mel, on the other hand ,fills us in on her favourite pie which she only discovered here in the UKĀ – Banoffee PieĀ ( Justin Timberlake is a fan as well!) She also tells where to go to get some delicious pie in Kentish Town and also give back to the community at the same time! Lots of pie love here at Tti!

Cornish Pasties with Steak, Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash {Hand Pies}

The Cornish Pasty ! ā€“ A Hand Pie!

A new year is upon us, just waiting to be explored, experienced, lived. Ā Discovering new food that becomes a favourite is something Brad and I are always eager to do. Cornish pasties are our most loved discovery since weā€™ve moved to London. For those of you who donā€™t know what the heck I am talking about, Cornish pasties are savoury hand pies filled with steak and potatoes. Ā They originate from Cornwall and are often associated with minerā€™s food because they were so convenient to bring along as lunch, no cutlery required! They are as traditional to England as Yorkshire pudding, toad in a hole and spotted dick (all real food!) and absolutely THE BEST street food you can ever imagine. They are incredibly delicious and satisfying especially in cold and wet English weather and you can just grab one on the go! (An excerpt from Juliiaā€™s blog on Cornish Pasties )

Wild Rabbit and Pheasant Pie or Happy British Pie Week

Wild Rabbit & Pheasant Pie

Itā€™s British Pie Week and I thought it would be only fitting to indulge ourselves in yet another pastry filled with a wonderful fusion of flavours. When people talk about ā€œpiesā€ here in England you never need to wonder if they mean ā€œmeat piesā€, itā€™s assumed. The Brits eat fruit pies as well but the meat variety holds a special place in the nationā€™s hearts and stomachs. Works for me as I come from Russia, another pie loving nation. I didnā€™t need further convincing to embark on a pie making campaign. Earlier this week I blogged aboutĀ Yellow Plum and Blueberry GaletteĀ and today I am sharing with you this completely unusual and utterly deliciousĀ Wild Rabbit and Pheasant Pie.

Read the rest of Juliaā€™s post on British Pie week from back in 2013 on this delicious Wild Rabbit & Pheasant Pie here . Thereā€™s the full recipe and instructions too!Ā

Banoffee pie? YES PLEASE!

The amazing BANOFFEE PIE ā€“ yep thatā€™s BANANA + TOFEE & that = BANOFFEEE!!Ā :)Ā

I discovered Banoffee pie when I arrived in London in 2009. Many Brits have said that this comes from the states but I had never heard of this delicious combination of sweet sweet toffee and banana! A quick search on wikipediaĀ tells me ā€œBanoffee pieĀ is an English dessert pie made from bananas, cream and toffee from boiled condensed milk, either on a pastry base or one made from crumbled biscuits and butter.ā€ ā€“ ThanksĀ Wikipedia!Ā

Ā Hereā€™s a video on how to make Banoffee Pie!Ā
