Hello, welcome to TopUp Learning and welcome to your one minute lesson.  Today we are looking at three popular British slang words.  Slang is informal language, usually used in speech and not writing.

Here are three popular slang words. “Skint”, it’s an adjective and it means to have no money.  For example.  “Do you want to come to the cinema tonight?  I’d love to but I can’t because I’m skint.”

Knackered”, adjective and it means to be really, really tired.  “I couldn’t sleep last night so I’m knackered”.

Loo”, it’s a noun and it means, toilet and it’s very popular in the UK so you might hear “I’m just going to the loo”, or “I’m just popping to the loo” or “I really need the loo!”.
