Transcript

Hi guys, so this is the Pron series episode one. I’m gonna tell you about some common Elision in words that I hear in the classroom a lot. For example the word comfortable only has 3 syllables. I often hear students say com-for-table but it’s just comfortable. This is because of reduced articulation, okay, so, comfortable. Another example, very similar, vegetable, 3 syllables. Camera, okay, we don’t say ca-me-ra, okay. Camera. The next one, also a very common one. A long vowel sound at the start, evening, okay, we do not say e-ve-ning or eve-ning or something like that. We say evening, okay. And here, we have every, another common one, we do not say e-ve-ry, so e-ve-ry student, we say every student, okay. So, that is Elision, the removal of a sound.
